About the author
Maria Wittendorff has a master in Arabic and is a long-time writer and editor of magazines and books alike. She has travelled Northern Africa for the past 30 years and is drawn to experiencing cultures, the understanding of our history’s circular nature and is eager to explore and expand her own conceptual universe.
Marrakech is currently one of the most popular travel destinations- every single day, all year round hundreds of tourists arrive from all areas of the world to the “red city” at the end of the Atlas Mountains and Danes are often well represented as part of these tourists. The interest in Marrakech has seen an enormous boom in the last 5 years and the trend seems to carry on.
This is no surprise as the city of Marrakech has it all: countless historical and cultural attractions, a rich and refined culinary culture, beautiful craftsmanship, delicate decorative details and completely unique buzz in the small, narrow streets and alleys, just to name a few of the things you can experience here.
In November 2017 the author’s first book about Marrakech debuted and with great success. After having learned that many travellers took the book with them in spite of its size, and used it as their guide, the author decided to write a new and improve version, suitable for having with you on the go.
This book has now become the closest thing to a complete guide to Marrakech- personally experienced and empathetically told. This is the first of its kind in danish, and in another language for that matter.
